The European Schoolnet Partnership (EUN)

European Schoolnet (EUN) is a not-for-profit organisation funded by education ministries in Europe dedicated to supporting schools in the best use of technology in learning, promoting the European dimension in schools and education and improving and raising the quality of education in Europe.

European Schoolnet has more than ten years of successful experience in helping schools achieve effective use of new technologies, place European issues at the heart of schooling and equip youngsters and teachers with the skills to achieve in the knowledge society.

European Schoolnet collaborates with the 31 Ministries of Education of the EUN Consortium to identify new priorities in education in Europe. Through various activities and projects, it provides both Ministries and schools with information services relating to education technology, outreach campaigns on specific educational topics such as maths, science and technology, and research activities in the fields of ICT policy, practice and technical interoperability of learning systems. EUN provides as well its member Ministries with in-depth analysis of the state of play of ICT in education across Europe and facilitates peer learning activities between Ministries of Education in key areas such as development of digital learning resources, standardisation, impact of ICT in schools, use and impact of interactive whiteboards and 21st Century digital skills for teachers and pupils.

European Schoolnet thus provides a platform where all Ministries can define together the agenda for the future development of ICT in education and exchange policy and practice.

The EUN consortium has been involved in many successful collaborative pan-European projects in these three main areas:

Policy, research and innovation

European Schoolnet collaborates with the Ministries to identify evidence, scalable and transferable practice, Internet Safety measures and emerging priorities in education in Europe. Through a series of successful collaborative projects and initiatives, EUN enables peers from various Ministries and agencies to discuss and learn from each other.

Schools services

European Schoolnet has established a strategic position as a European platform to help schools achieve effective use of new technologies in teaching and learning. Additionally, it regularly works with industry and institutions to organise school activities - for instance, the European Commission or federations of industry.

Learning resource exchange and interoperability

European Schoolnet is at the forefront of global initiatives related to the exchange and interoperability of digital learning resources. With the commitment of participating Ministries of Education and support from European Commission research programmes, European Schoolnet is building a new Learning Resource Exchange (LRE) service for schools that will enable teachers and learners to find educational content from many different countries and providers.
